Top auto journalist group recognizes designer’s contributions to the auto industry

Fisker Automotive CEO Henrik Fisker was awarded the Golden Gear award for Automotive Design by the Washington Automotive Press Association (WAPA) during a February 6 luncheon at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. The veteran designer was recognized for designing some of the world’s most desirable and innovative automobiles, including the BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9 and Fisker Karma, the first luxury plug-in hybrid car.  “I am truly pharmacy honored,” said Fisker. “WAPA’s Golden Gear award is especially meaningful because it comes from people who really understand cars and the auto industry.”

Joe Phillips, WAPA president, said, “Henrik Fisker’s stellar car designs are full of what’s best about the auto industry: Passion. And when you add in his green, ecofriendly business model, the result is a win-win for car-loving consumers and dealers. Fisker is proof that great style can have great substance.”

Coming to a Dealership Near You.

Fisker Automotive, the new American manufacturer of premium green automobiles, is building a worldwide retail network to support initial deliveries of the Fisker Karma luxury plug-in hybrid sedan in the fourth quarter of 2009. Auto industry senior executive Vic Doolan, Director of Retail Development, is leading the effort.

Doolan’s successful tenures as President, BMW North America and President and CEO of Volvo Cars North America make him well suited for the task. Specific appointments to the Fisker Automotive Retail Network will be announced in the coming months.

“Our retail network will give consumers confidence in the Fisker brand and its technology,” said Doolan. “Partners will deliver the service to which premium clientele are accustomed.”
